Hi all,

I was asked recently if I wanted this tree/shrub by a friend. Before I took it off there hands it was just twigs and a trunk. I didn't think much of it until the new growth started appearing and may now think it could be a new project.

Can anyone out there please help me identify what it is and how you would go about caring for it.

I live in New Zealand and it is coming into the summer months. We are in mid spring at the moment.

Any thoughts and ideas would be greatly appreciated

I am kind of guessing here but I think it is a quince bush...the growth traits and leaves lean me toward fruiting plant. it looks to be mostly dead but it has a nice trunk started and you wont have to pick a leader LOL

does it flower??

could be a magnolia or camellia ??

I'm really not sure whether it flowers or not as this is the first time i have seen it with any kind of growth on it. I collected it as is.

Update on this plant.

I got rid of all the dead wood.

Lets see how it goes.

I think I know what this is now. Pretty sure its a Star Jasmine
