Hey all thanks for the responses! I'll keep an eye on the baby Maples, and see what they look like in a few years. I suppose I was going about this the wrong way, looking for a baby to train up. That being said, I do have an azalea the wife wants gone, and another bigger plant (i'm not sure what it is, wisteria?) I'll attach pictures of these two to get your thoughts. Mystery plant inserted, another angle and closeup attached, and azalea attached.

I could be wrong, but the best guess i have is that it may be a bay plant. Where you live would definitly help as the climate you are in could suggest a wide range of different plants. As i will say again, i may be wrong.
