Limecale on the surface of your soil is an indication of the buildup of salts in the soil. Eventually this may cause root damage, slowed down development and, if you really wait too long, the tree may die of the effects of salt build up. It normally does not cause a lot of trouble in bonsai culture, as most trees are repotted (With replacement of soil in the rootball) every so often. Keep an eye on the trees' health, and keep this in mind when the tree seems to just 'sit there'.

Technically, if you see limescale one day before repotting... :D ;) . Its just that it never caused any effects on my plants even if limescale was there for six months, so thats why i said it. But now ive learnt from leatherbacks awesome post. Sorry

You wouldn't "Just brush it off the soil or/and tree", as you wrote, a day before repotting.
