Hi I am from west Bengal(India). I read some article about bonsai soil mix and I found that most of bonsai artist are using Akadama, Turface, Pumice, Lava etc. but the problem is, this things are not available here so I am little confuse what should I use or what not. I made a recipe as per my knowledge but still I am confuse. I describe the recipe below Please help me that, Can I go with this or should I need to change the recipe. Can I plant the bonsai tree in this mix?

One part of Cow dung manure
One part of Coco peat
One part of sand and gravel and crashed granite
Half part of brick pieces (2mm to 4mm size )
One third part of vermiculate and
One tea spoon dolomite

I can find also fried clay (Photo Attuched) . Can I use it on soil mix? (After break this into small pieces as I am using the brick an)

I have read ur previous massage and that why I have cut down the fertilizer part from the list, Thanks for ur suggestion. But still I wish to know that do I need to cut more ingredient or can I use those things? Because I cannot find here any of the martial what I have mentioned. That’s why I am finding the alternative way. Please help me.

I may be wrong, but i may have a suggestion in which someone can correct me on. I would'nt use peat, or manure. The fired clay is rather risky in my mind as it might not absorb much water. Do you have any garden centres nearby?

As i said, i may be wrong as i have not tried many ingredients on your list.

I'd say you are still making it far too complicated. A lot of it seems redundant to me. Also, you did not remove all the fertilizer. I understand you cannot get the same material as we can, but the result is that you are using mostly materials that we have never used and have no experience with. I really don't know what the properties of your 'fired clay' are.

Why not give a call to a local company, like www.greenmall.in/bonsai.html ? They sell bonsai, I guess they won't mind sharing with you what type of soil they use.
