Growing trees in pots was created by rketekt

Hi
I am new to the hobby, and trying to be as patient as I can be. I am growing some nursery stock (Boxwood, Green Velvet) and am trying to get the trunk thicker. Any suggestions as to how long it can stay in the pot, or does it make more sense to put it in the ground.
Currently the trunk is about 1/2 inch thick. how thick can i expect a boxwood to get? are the trees slow to mature, or quick growing. i seem to find a lot of info on Junipers, and chinese elm, but not so much on boxwood.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Hi, and welcome.

I have a 45 year old boxwood which is about 7cms thick. This was allowed to grow in the ground its whole life. So.. they are slow growing. Even in the ground.
