Juniper Bonsai turning brown - over watered?? was created by StacyLL

My goodness, I'm in a panic! Friends purchased this beautiful little juniper bonsai for my husband and it is not doing well in our care. The guide said to water it every day in the summer months w/ 2-3 hrs of morning sun. Well, this is Atlanta and it gets hot here and is awfully humid. We have had it since June 15th and have not fertilized it.

The little tree is turning brown though the soil is damp. My guess is that we've overwatered it. I've read articles regarding it's roots could be rotting, etc. Is it too late for our little gem??? What do I do??? Re-pot? Fix the roots? Bring it inside to dry out a bit? Fertilize it? I don't know anything other than I want to save it!

Junipers need as much sun as they can get. So keep it in a sunny spot. Do not bring it in, unless it has been raining substatially (e.g., daily) for more than a week. All my junipers just had a record 60+ hours continued rainfall. They are still very happy.

More than that.. Post a clear picture of the foliage. You might be caring for a dead plant; Death in Junipers is a slow yet mostly irreversable process, and in the beginning you would probably think it is still good, yet it has died while you were sleeping :(

Does (or did) it look something like this?

Such trees often have a very short life.
