Thanks, I did and think it may be a Podocarpus macrophyllus???
I'm a bit confused where to start pruning it though, how much foliage to remove etc.

So.. Decide how big you want it, and which shape you want, then you know when to start trimming.

Personally, i feel the plant is way too big for the thickness of the trunk to ever make a convincing bonsai. So either i would let the tree grow out a lot so the trunk gets fat. Or you remove 80% of the foliage.
