I like the material, but here are my thoughts:
- Pot seems too large for this tree, and wrong shape. Something more round & less deep.
- The full trunk is visible from pot to apex. It might be nice to break it up some and add depth by having a branch or two come across.
- First branch up some, or apex down some.
- The majority of branches are nicely fanned out, but mostly downward, as if the tree just fell sideways. It may be good to bring them up a little more horizontal, as if it's recovered, & now reaching for sunlight outward.
- The trunk maintains a very similar diameter through most of it's length. There may not be much to add taper without significant chops, or letting sacrificials grow from the base. Additionally, if you ever wanted, the top could be air-layered & made into another nice tree.
Regardless, I like it - it has interesting movement.

And then I remembered this tree, from Adam's Art & Bonsai blog:

It would require a whole new position, but...

Thanks, that's exactly what I needed. If I'm honest I've messed with this tree far to much this year already, it will need a few years of root work before I can think about a smaller pot I think. I never really considered an air layer maybe in a few years if I can't get it where I want I guess.

I have considered bagging it with Tony tickles method in order to gain some lower sacrifice branches but I've been advised that's for newly collected trees and attempting to thicken the trunk in a pot would be futile? Maybe a pond basket could be an option if I can get it to sprout some branches at the rear low down.
