Well I finally decided and bought my first bonsai. It's pretty dainty and I picked it for its small foliage and overall realistic look. I bought a Brazilian rain tree. Please give me advice on care. I also want to know where to go with pruning/shaping. I love its current shape, but bigger would be a little nicer,

There isn't much you can do right now with such a small tree. Plant it in the ground or a bigger container until it reaches desired thickness and height.

I love the way it looks now though. Just wish it was a larger version. So I should let it grow out before doing anything with it?

You got your first young plant that may become a bonsai in the far future, but currently isn't.

Leatherback- Yes, I am. Apparently they are slow growers, so yes a little hard to come by and a little expensive. The one I got is 13 years old.
Auk- Yes I can see it is not quite to bonsai calliper, but that is why am here, for help and advice in that process. I think it would help to know the growth process of a tree so I can understand where the new growth will come from/ how to develop the trunk more.
