I am surprised people are surprised to be honest. This closing of borders was to be expected and I do not feel sorry for people who decided to do private long-distance travel. To be honest, I agree with a comment I think our prime minister made: People who decide to take long trips now for non-emergency reasons are being selfish.
Indeed. I was surprised that Japan lifted the entry ban for a brief period...
Anyways, look at the bright side. More time to spend with our trees
If I go to some of the events discussed in this thread, will take photos and report here.
Now that it’s been another year, I’m hoping to revive the travel plan for the fall. Taikan-Ten is tentatively scheduled for November 25 according to a post in another site, but I can’t find any information at all. Unfortunately I don’t speak Japanese, so I can’t do Google searches in anything but English Here’s what the post said: “2022/11/25(fri) 9:00 ~ 11/28(mon) 16:00 exhibition - The 42nd Japan Bonsai Taikanten (Miyakomesse, Kyoto)”
Does anyone know where I might learn more? The convention center site was no use…
