So I have 2 japanese maples and they both have white powder like stuff on small/new leaves, it makes me think powdery mildew which i posted about not to long ago but now the leaves are changing and not in a good way. I am wondering if its lacking something in the food I'm using or if its related to this mystery powder stuff on the leaves.

I've been feeding them roots organic uprising bloom (3-4-6) for years and I've never had an issue with it.

Does not look like powdery mildew (look up images 'powdery mildew maple' and compare), but I don't recognize what it actually could be either.

Maybe here are some clues:

If you think it is mildew you can spray/ mist them with a 50/50 mixture of milk and water, works well. And if it isn't mildew it won't harm them anyway.
