Hi there,

Thanks in advance for any help.

Just bought my first bonsai tree from a respectable place. The tree (mini Jade) shipped by UPS and arrived on Thursday. It seems like there are at least few bugs in the soil, climbing to the tree trunk often. If I look carefully I can see a few of them.

1) Is this normal? Should I talk with the business? They suggested to buy an indoor pesticide or to bring it to them to take a look (they're located an hour away from me, and I am not thrilled to make the ride).
2) I included a picture of small brown things that I assume are fertilizers that they installed. Am I correct? These seem to grow in size somehow.
3) I included a picture of the leaves, hoping to hear that this is a healthy tree.
4) In one of the pictures, some black spots on the trunk are visible. There are many of these. Are these normal?

In the link are three pictures (leaves, 'fertilizer?' and spots on the trunk) and the bugs are somewhat visible in the videos. They're indeed tiny.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to read and potentially help. Ohad

That is springtails, not really dangerous to your plant. However they are a sign of far to wet substrate, especially for a jade that likes to dry out complettely before watering. When you get the watering right the springtails will die by themselves.
