I have a sick Japanese maple! This is the second season I’ve had it and this spring all its leaves are very wilted and dying. We have had a very wet month. I’m not sure what to do. It is in a spot that gets morning sun and shade in the afternoon. Should I take out of pot and check roots or leave it alone?

Have you checked to see if it is dry? Just because it has been raining does not mean the tree has enough water especially with a canopy like that. Do not take it out of the pot unless it is not draining well.

No, it’s definitely not dry. We have had rain every day, and if anything, it’s too wet. I think it is draining okay. It was fine until we started getting a lot of rain.
