Any advice? The deadwood on my bougi suddenly turned black on the edges.. will lime sulfur do? Its a 21 jewel bougi its wood is kinda soft compared to other bougi species.

P.s : lime sulfuring bougainvillea makes then unatural? Dont you think?

Firstly, lime sulfur does not preserve the wood. Can you clean the black off with a toothbrush or similar? Have you had a lot of rain recently? It sounds as if it has been wet.

Rainy season, there is your problem getting too wet for too long. Problem solved.

ive heard of people using wood penetrating resin or polyurethane and painting the deadwood to seal it .make sure it is a low gloss finish or you will have shiny deadwood.

Lime sulfer will bleach and help prevent rot organisms; however once established you may have to remove some wood. I would agree with others, seal the area with some kind of resin and decrease moisture exposure.

lime sulfur does not prevent rot it is used more for presentation than its protective properties. bringing your tree inside for a little time to dry out the would will be fine.try removing some of the soil around the deadwood base (if it touches the soil) because moisture will wick up the wood and prolong the drying process

Under cover yes, but not indoors. I mix the lime sulfur with ink to dull the whitenning effect which can be overwhelming, and do the application outside in fresh air not in a confined space. It stinks.
