You all must have heard about the notorious Dutch elm disease. It has killed almost All the elms in Britain, I have had a thought. While i still dwell in south west Cornwall, where elms are present in a bit of it, what if I brought some cuttings or what not back to London to possibly recollinate some of the elms, you know, put them in parks, sell or give them to other people on the street or set up a little stall. I have a little theory that since the disease broke out, which was quite a while ago, that it might have faded or kind of starved a bit. I would like to hear your thoughts on this idea. Any comments:welcome.

Once the trees reach about 5 metresd the disease strikes. Strains that are resistant are being developed, and the Wych Elm is resistant, but otherwise not worth it.

The scale at which you would be doing it would be such that it would not make a difference. If resistent strains are discovered, they will be grown in commercial nurseries, and within a year of coming on the market, there would be more elms than you can dig up and transplant in your lifetime.

Man, you do that... It is a nice project. We should always have a project, even if its impact is a small one. Good luck,
