I have a Chinese Elm.

Well, two of them. Different origins.

I keep them inside. Montana is pretty fierce.

Today, it has been getting cold inside. Around 60. It is currently about 38 outside.

I keep the trees under a light. In a few weeks our sun will fall enough to hit them without supplementing the sunshine.

Anyway. During the past few days the middle tree in the shallow pot has begun to have yellow/brown leaves. Some falling.

Today, I saw a bit of shiny moisture like a little tiny bug spit on some of the leaves.

I just gave it a shower.

How do I know if it is really bug spit or simple shivering moisture?

I am going to insert two photos with this.

Please, I want to end my career as a serial bonsai killer.

Thank you.

It may just be autumn or it could just be that chinese elms loose theor leaves for no reasons sometimes, if there are buds producing next to the leaves i would say you are fine, but wait for other comments .

Unlikely to be autumn as the tree is inside. It looks sick, how do you water? You need to check every day and soak the soil. Spraying is not enough and in that state probably not a good idea. 60f is not cold.
Keeping the tree inside is not good anyway, they are hardy, and do much better outside, but if you must the they need humidity as well as the correct watering regime.

Yes, most likely a fault in care, but just to be on the safe side, i would move it away from your other trees, it may be a desease, but the thing is that all your other trees seem to be fine so unless you just got them then you may be caring for them fine but may be wrong. It may be a desease but we need some info:

When did you repot
When did you feed
When do you water
And your feeding routine.
And obviously, can you see any bugs or potential pests on it.

The spit could be a place where eggs are laid into, so get rid of it.
