Hi All,
Just getting back into bonsai after a good few years and I bought a lovely Japanese cherry online. Arrived in perfect condition and looks amazing.
Couple of things worry me however, when it arrived there was a gooey white substance stuck on a few leaves, at the end was a soft brown 'seed' like thing. I removed them pronto as I'm 100% sure they are not supposed to be there (I'm right, right?)

I've also found two other weird things - one is a brown maggot like thing (see picture) and the other are almost like worms, some are very very small, and transparent / white, the larger ones (see picture) are brownish.

What are they? how do I get rid? is it anything to worry about!?

No. I'd worry more about the gooey substance and the brown seed like thing. Got pictures of that?
Assuming you purchased it recently, what did the vendor say when you consulted them?

hmm, interesting, I didn't realise that millipedes looked so much like maggots - thanks.

Unfortunately no, I didn't take any pictures of the white stuff, but it was sticky, like melted marshmallow fluf and the seed thing was small, about 4mm across, squidgy and tan brown colour. I didn't think much about what they were, I just removed them. When I called the vendor they just said none of their trees were imported and that I should spray them with insecticide or pesticide. In honesty, I don't think I would recommend them or buy from them again.

Also, when you say worms, do you mean just normal earthworms?

I cannot tell whether it is a miliped or a pupea. Not from your picture. Did it have lots of legs?
The white stuff sounds like spitbugs.

Sounds like you need a good amunt of insecticide & quarantine. Odd. Normally imported trees are quarantined..

No, no legs, but it did have the same sort of mouthparts a maggot has - being a former fisherman I'm fairly familiar with maggots.

Have given it a good does of "ultra bug killer".

Have just googled spitbugs, the white stuff was not bubbley as it appears in all of the photo's I can find.

I attach a picture of where the white thing was stuck to the leaf, I scrapped it off, so that's just the remains. It was like a small pea sized which, very sticky, gooey ball. The closest description I can give is like melted marshmallow.

I see multiple segments. About as many as t his one has. they look the same to me?

Not sure, it didn't curl up like in that picture, it had no meds and dis not have two antenna at it's head.
