Here's my mame Lonicera Nitida... It was taken from my mother plant as a cutting.
What do you think?

I like the motherplant.
The mame.. Not so much I am afraid.. I think I would not have potted it up, as the trunk has inverse taper, by the looks of it. You will hardly be able to correct this.

In your motherplant, make sure you trim out those branches, and create a well-structures canopy.

All I do is trim it around the edge... I'd like to create a cone shape but not sure how to approach it.
Any help much appreciated.

Go in. Remove any brnach or branchlet that grows into the canopy: All branches should have their own space, and grow towards the outside of the tree (this is where the light is). Remove all branches except for 2 at any node. No more than 2 branches at any one fork.

Once you do that you probably have a much better srtucture already. I suspect that half of the branches will be gone by then.

So from this:

To this (not the same branch):

Aiming for something like this over time (Not the best filled out branchlet, but gives you an idea, right):

Thanks for the advice... The branches are very compact and tight together on the tree.
