This tree needs some work on it's own right, but after a repot in a different pot, I think it works better, but I'm wondering what you think. The pictures with the full leaves are from last summer/late spring. The ones without full leaves are today.

Pretty decent tree. I have a horbeam to collect this weekend. Im really curious about what is under the surface.

Have any plans with your tree this year besides repotting?

I want to get some of the lower branches to grow out... as well as keep the apex a bit smaller. it is starting to get a bit top and middle heavy. I want to make out a plan for foliage pads, as far as styling is concerned.

I have to also think about the nebari as well.

This repot was a semi-repot. As the new pot is a bit larger than the old one, I really didn't have to cut any roots. I did comb out the old soil spread out the roots, and work in new soil, of course.

With all the sun and warm temps we've been having here in Germany, many of my trees have exploded with growth.. This hornbeam is not a great tree... but it has grown very well this spring. I'm goin to let it grow out for a month or so after this pruning and then maybe do a hard prune... the branches, and trunk for that matter need to fatten up.
