so my GF decided she wanted to try to style a tree without telling me, mind you she knows nothing about bonsai besides little things i show her here and there and when she joins me for exhibitions. this morning she went to a hardware store and apparently bought a few sabina junipers for $2 each. she trimmed and styled the tree on her own a few hours ago while im here at work and sent me some photos. im pretty impressed for her not knowing anything. im praying it survives seeing she might have trimmed a little to much but over all its not a bad little guy. she said she wanted a shohin and the branch going straight up in her exact words were "its going to be that dead looking branch stuff but i think im suppose to let it grow if i want it thicker".lol i guess she has the right idea. here are some photos she sent.i will post more once i get home and get different angle.

Nice curvy trunk, but...
I am afraid she has cut too much foliage, which is not good for junipers...
let's wait and see, keep us posted!

Oh Crent you are so blessed haha. I even have an Asian girlfriend and she is not into anything Asia related so I suppose I'm just going to show her your post :P Nevertheless, I absolutely love the movement on the little buddy you've got there and I am praying it will make it through the summer with that little foliage left. Keep us updated!

finally got around to taking more pictures. and the good news is, we have some growth after just 1 week so looks like it will survive the intense trimming.
here is some of the new growth.

funny you say that, this weekend she bought a dwarf pomegranate and a firethorn bush which has great trunk movement.

That’s really nice she’s got into your hobby. Hope we can see the development for the other trees as well :)
