what to do with my bonsai tree next? was created by dylanb28

hello my names Dylan!

I recently got given a bonsai tree starter kit from my girlfriend for my birthday I believe it is a Jack Pine Bonsai (thats what it said on the pack) and so decided to actually give it a go and look after it and went through all the cold stratification process etc.. So I've been growing it now for around 5-6 months now and it actually seems to be doing quite well! and so I would love to progress further with it! I bought a new pot for it to as it told me to repot and also used bonsai tree soil, since then I've litterally just been watering it and giving it sun/dappled sunlight and it seems to be all fine and dandy.

I'm not sure what to do with it next thought? do I just leave it to grow for ages until it becomes more robust and just keep watering it? or do I have to repot it or prune at some point I'm not to sure when these steps are needed. any help would be appreciated, and bare in mind this is my first ever tree!

I have attached a photo of what it currently looks like, it's really flimsy at the moment but seems to have a lot of branches coming off it.

Thankyou

Hello, Dylan, be welcome to the forum.
Yours seem to be a Japanese Black Pine, but it is a seedling still.
Pines take a looooooong time to grow, which means you will start to train it in two or three years; for the moment, let it grow.
If it outgrows the pot (it has drainage holes, right?), you could repot it in a bigger pot in the beginning of the Spring.
Good luck!

Note that pines need to be grown outdoors.
