Hi, i want to show you the amazing (in my opinion) progression of my Oak, Quercus Pubescens. the first photo was taken at 2 february 2016:

The next one is taken at 26 June 2018

And the last one, today, 2 September 2018.
I'm looking forward to the next years!

Amazing progression indeed, but I have three problems with this tree (based on the photo alone, of course. I haven't seen the tree in real life)::

1. The flow isn't maintained. The apex doesn't follow the direction started by the base (the apex goes left, the first branch goes right
2. The tree should be placed more to the left in the pot
3. It isn't mine

My 1969 Sunset Bonsai book says you can't make bonsais from oak because the leaves won't shrink. So, these pictures must be faked.

It sure looks good.

@ Auk:
About the flow of the tree: you're completely right! But the tree hasn't his final shape yet. I made a virt. in jan 2017 which shows his final shape:

You can see the flow will change. Also the top of the tree will be a bit higher and rounder; now tree tree has a height of 51 cm, and it will be around 55 cm when it has its final shape.
The position in the pot is because the nebari allmost hits the left side of the pot:

And yes it's not your tree ,:P
Here a short movie I made when I made the virtual which shows the real shape of the tree. You can see it is a bit different you expect when you see the tree on a picture:

The origin of the Oak is Italy, and they told me it has to be around 70 years old...
The smallest leaves are around 2 cm in length. But I think they will become a bit smaller when the tree gets more ramification.

Thank you! Not for saying I'm completely right but for not being offended and taking my remarks seriously.
I'm on this forum to learn. One of the ways to learn is to look at great trees, see their structure, try to understand it, try and detect areas for improvement. Thanks for letting me practice this on your tree.

Also thanks for understanding that 'It's not mine' meant: great tree, i wish I had one of those :)

Finally, thanks for explaining your plans. Sounds solid and I look very much forward to see the progression.

We need (far!!) more posts like this one.

today I've worked at my Oak: remove the old leaves, some light pinching and some wire...
