so after managing to keep this pine alive a number of years, at least a few repots, and decandlings, I finally put it in a concrete pot that my wife made...
My first and main question is: I just repottend... when is it safe to do some pruning? What are your experiences? As you can tell this guy is a bit bushy and I need to work on the branch structure a bit as well as make some decisions about the apex.... It isn't the worst tree in the world, and I'd like to improve it a little, if possible.
My track record with pines and junipers is not the best.

I guess it mostly depends on how much work you had to put in the rootball for the repot...
If it didn't involve much more than moving from one pot to another (without any serious root pruning), it may be safe to go...

I didn't do hardly any root pruning.... Am I correct in assuming it would be better to cut now, when the sap flow is lower? Or to wait until fall?
