Looks OK. But.. How certain are you this is a sabina?

cant be to certain. but foliage, has the long scale foliage. was also sold and labeled as a Juniperus sabina (tamariscifolia) or tam juniper. did a little heavy pruning to try to get the foliage to grow dense but only resulted in long juvenile foliage (its current state).

do you think otherwise?

Dunno. I find junipers hard to identify. Just never seen sabina for sale.
I would have guessed in the pfitzeriana area ;)

Juniperus sabina is the species, My sabinas have much tighter foliage than that.

OK, lets make that more precise. I have never seen them for sale in the nursery trade, which is where this tree seems to have come from.
I bought a sabina yamadori from spain at the trophy this year.
