I have been caring for this Chinese Elm for the last year. Recently, I have re-potted it into a larger, deeper bot to encourage growth. I was wondering what I should do next? Should I prune it back completely or just 3 buds?

You can prune this plant, but if you have only just done a re pot then you need to wait a few weeks to make sure it is growing again. Prune back to two or three buds depending on what shape you want. It will grow quite fast again, so you should be able to prune twice again this year. Putting into a larger pot alone will not encourage growth, it needs fertiliser and pruning as well.

I have repotted the Elm into a proper pot with some 'Bonsai Focus Mix' soil. I've also pruned all downwards growing shoots, but not all the longer shoots on top.

i love my chinese elm. it seems to be fairly fast growing, and from everything i read it can be an indoor tree as well. i have had him for about 3 weeks now and he has put on so many new leaves it is amazing, and people told me like they did with my fukien tea that it would probably drop all his leaves because of enviroment change. both must like where they live, they both have made so much more growth. soon will be adding a trident maple to the collection. i hear the maple is like the junipers, they have to live outside 99 percent of the time.

You can forget the indoor part, 99,9% dies inside
