Some recent carving work I did to my Siberian elm that I found in a local garden Center here in Spain a year ago.

good start there.

As a tip: Take a look at carving bits like the bonsai nibbler. It looks like you did this work with a fairly small gentle carving bit. Lots of hours. If you take a nibbler, you can take away more volume and more easily create the general pattern in the wood, and use the smaller ones for detailing.

Hard to tell from your pictures: The lines you are carving; they do follow the direction of the woodfibres?
