Hello, I’m new to bonsai and I’ve been trying to figure things out myself. Doing this has lead me to the fact that I can’t find much help if I don’t have a community to converse with.
So I have a few trees not sure what they are all named ( I grab trees from the woods n such on my travels. One of them is not doing so hot. I was hoping to train it until it could be wired.
I grabbed this long needle pine from North Carolina back in November. She came home back to NJ and was planted into soil so she could root. After a few months (around January) the weather got really bad and I was worried the roots would freeze in the pot. So I brought it inside to a cooler room in my home with ample light. It was doing ok until about a week ago when all the needles started to look dry and faded. Today I touched it and a few needles fell out. Upon light touch I pulled the rest.

By your description, it seems dead to me.
Can you grab some pictures as easily as you grab the trees from the woods?
Pictures help a lot.

Hi an welcome.

Sounds to me like you just killed your first pine.

Lesson to learn: There is the right time for everything. If you cannot protect from the frost, wait with collecting trees untill frost is pretty much gone.

The pine is dead. The juniper will likelly follow if kept indoors. I can see snow outside. I would put juniper outside, taking the snow off the ground and put the pot on the ground. Then adding a thick layer of snow on top of it. This way it will stay moist and protected from deap frost.
