Trident starter tree was created by leatherback

Last year I had the option to obtain a somewhat larger trident starter tree.

As advertised:

As the nebari was really rough and full of holes I raised the substrate level. Too late in spring to really do much else tbh..

I just let it do its thing, with the growth reaching 2 meters in summer

Cut back hard in summer, and reducing foliage it sprouted lots of fine branches where in fall were wired out, setting a basis.

Rootwork was done recently. Ready for a new season.

I am personally not a fan of these fat shorter trees , but great job. Great progress in just one year!

:) Neither am I but.. well. lets say, I expect this to become a rather large wide spreading tree in the future :)

I love the belly button near the bottom. Gives it a personality :)

The roots were too tall and vertical, so work to flatten the rootbase:
