I have recently purchased a Mugo Pine shrub from a nursery. I have made some initial cuts, but now I am stuck. The tree splits its trunk, and I don’t know which next step would be best. I am thinking of chopping off the left split of the trunk and styling the tree into a Moyogi or Shakan style. However, I can see the tree also staying in mostly the same shape or being a Sokan style. This is my first shrub ever as I have been taking care of seedlings for the past year and a half. So my experience with mature trees is slim to none. I want to do what’s best for the shrub. Any help or advice is appreciated. Thank you!
