After skipping flowering last season, my powdepuff is blooming once again.
I enjoy its flowers very much, and next week it will be ready for a serious trimming.

Marvelous!
I'm training a few of Sellois, yours are a good inspiration Clicio.

I'll share my happiness here if you don't mind... I know they are nothing close to Bonsai yet, but just to see it's flowers means something, right?

The "ugliest" one (On trunk thickening stage) has been flowering like crazy, this is the 3rd and strongest flush, it's leaves are yellowish because it was on a too hot/sunny spot, maybe that contributed for the flowering...

For my surprise, this morning my Calliandra Tweedii showed off two flowers...

Very nice flowers, @Albas !
Don't let them be in full afternoon sun in the summer, they burn quite easily.
My Tweedii didn't bloom this year, but the surinamensis and the spinosa did, wonderful flowers. I have an white Brevipes also, but still a youngster.

Thanks for the advise, they are all on partial shade now, or under the shade net. (Noticed they best thrive under the shade net)
I would put this one on a bigger pot, wire those "to-be branches", but it's the only selloi flowering, so I chose just let it be by now.
Not in a hurry.

Hi :)

I am new to this, but I really enjoy seeing this Calliandra brevipes/selloi in full bloom.. and due to its distribution, it would be more frost hardy than most Calliandra species.
Does anybody know where I could get seeds easily ? ( I am from France, and it's pretty complicated to get seeds, from USA, Australia,.. at least from companies - not so if it comes from private indivuals. )
I have fresh seeds of Capsicum flexuosum.. so, if anyone wants to try this particular, cold hardy chili pepper as a bonsai, I am ok for an exchange (!)

Hello, Calliandras are native from Brazil, yes they're kind of frosty hard, here on south temperatures drops about 0~1ºC at winter nights and I don't even move them into the porch, they even keep growing tru' winter, a lot slower tho.

About the seeds, I think it's really complicated, because Calliandra seeds aren't too hard, so they wont germinate if kept for too long. On the other hand, it would probably be enough to reach you by mail...

The problem is, by law you can't send seeds by mail from Brazil to France especially, to other countries it would be ok.

And if you're wondering "What about a sapling?", that can't be sent out of Brazil to anywhere, probably for the greater good.
