This is my first go at planting a forest group with maples from garden centres near my home none was more than £4 pounds in a seed tray for now until the roots mesh then I will plant in oval pot or put on a piece of slate
Moss came from shed roof

Hi , looks good for your first attempt, next time, try to place the individual tree in such way that when you look to the front site, none of the trees are in one row, so every tree is vissible from the main point of view.
It's also a nice to have different size / ages in your trees .

I will do more no doubt acer are always in th3 supermarkets here and rarely cost a lot if you buy small ones I have several acer in my garden which I could air layer

Hello!

Air layer is a good way to get some advanced material, with some thickness already and cool radial roots if you get lucky, and it seems like maple trees are really responsive to this technique...

About your forest, I would have raised them for a few years on their own pots to get some good thickness before having them planted together, they still too slender, however is good to have different experiences, let this one be, see how it goes, and work on some other trees in the meanwhile, if you have some material on your reach, it's a good idea...

Also, if you have a garden, consider training some of your trees on the ground, you can get some good material way faster field growing, do some research about...
