Pinus banksiana literati - humble beginning was created by Abhishek

My name is Abhishek and from Minnesota USA . So this is the beginning of my literati with my Pinus banksiana .

Living in zone 4 , Jack pine does really well . Have been growing this one from a clearance section of nursery for around 3 years . This autumn thought time to get it styled in literati although didn’t have that in mind in the beginning . But having lost a few lower branches and not seeing many other options plunged into a literati style …

Thank you ! There’s not much literature around Pinus banksiana being used for bonsai . So it’s going to be a trial run for the next few years to see how it develops . Following it kind of mugo pine way .
I can’t think of a reason why banksiana would not be used for bonsai as the branches are naturally droopy , flexible enough to wire them easily and develops interesting contortions along the way of it’s growth . As far as I have read - they hate root pruning …

I have a large banksiana cultivar Uncle Foggy in my garden which is fascinating .

I love this! Happy to see someone using this species! I'm way up in zone 1a/1b (James Bay area, Quebec). We have tons of really cool looking banksianas when you get to higher ground. I plan to collect a few Jack Pine this coming spring!
