Thats an awesome tree, i hope to get my Ficus(es) to look like that! At the moment i have 2 growing in coke bottles which are ready to be made root over rock soon, and two in pots, i will do root over rock soon, about 20 days to go and my final exams will be finished. I am however worried about doing root over rock in summer?
Anyway your tree is looking fantastically healthy aswell as beautiful.
OMG!!! my baby's a killer ...
LOL i have finally discovered what spieces she is yeah. it is a ficus natalensis otherwise known as a strangler fig. the seedlings sprout in the crooks of host trees and grow long roots to the soil and end up eventually killing the host tree .the good thing is this speices is very well suited for root over rock plantings
Otherwise known as the Dwarf African Strangler Fig according to Jerry Meislik. Ya gotta watch the little ones...appearances can be deceptive!
Seriously tho, congrats on discovering it's species. She could be quite interesting to observe as she matures, yes? You mentioned earlier that you now have her planted over a rock pile...she could make for a fabulous exposed root specimen in the future, do you think?
that's what im hopein' .last time i repotted her instead of cutting the tap root i wrapped it around the rocks .it was about 1 1/2 foot long so im hopeing that it will hold everthing together.eventually if all goes as planed it will branch out and hide most of it. ive got like 2 years to wait til i pull it out again. paitience is a virture they say i think it is a pain in the butt
well it was time to work on this one again i have been trying things over the past year to see what i get out of it . i did a root prune a month ago and cut 2 of the long tap roots off and decided to reposition the rocks and start over with the root developement ( ive learned some things over the year ). i ended up cutting 2 branches shorter and now have 2 planted cuttings of this species

by the way hank lived in africa for 25 years not sure where tho
