hello, I'll try to put some photo of the tree now so you can track its progress.
I do not know if it is necessary to reduce the size of images to post! I will give it a try with the size ...

I wait the leaves fall to decide the future.
I had a crush on the beautiful bark and he was the only specimen of the nursery. I found a picture of a hydrangea petiolaris which it may be related. I do not know if I can use the image to the forum so I prefer to put the link: absbonsai.org/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=303
but mine will probably be different. I do not know what I will find as roots under the ground when repotting.

This is a really nice plant...well established. I look forward to seeing the bare structure once the leaves have fallen and, to following it's progression. Thank you for sharing the link...it is a great photo reference for bonsai; I have saved it in my favourites!

After seeing the photos of your hydrangea, I am quite excited to see what my little, rooted cuttings will look like someday. :)

Now leaves have fallen, there will be a lot of work to select branches to keep.

Monday I will take him to work at the club to which I subscribe.

Ahhhh...it has two trunks! :) This could make a very interesting double-trunk form, yes? The bark is wonderful! You have a lot of work ahead choosing your branches! :S

Great material, indeed the trunk is amazing and look at that bark! Good to see so many branches, you have a lot of choices! I'm sure the club can help you with the first styling of this tree.

Never heard of this tree before but it's very beautiful, thank you for posting! :)

We'll have to wait a few months, probably until March to find out how is the part of trunk invisible now: perhaps there would be several plants!
For now I'll just cut the branches that have a position inappropriate, either because they are before the trunk, either because they grow vertically.

I worked my tree Monday at the club, it has changed a lot but it is only the beginning...
I have to set upright branches to form the new tops.
