It's looking very good! :)

Now the first styling is made, it needs to get more branches to cover the top etc.

As you can see, it has got a nice round top now. I think after a few years this will be a great tree!

Good luck and keep us posted!

Hi Daniele,

Wow! What difference...good work! The bark is absolutely amazing! How long did this process of choosing and cutting away branches take you? Any new insights to share after doing this major pruning?

Thank you for sharing your tree's progress. Great photos! :)

Hi Leslie, the choice of branches has been so fast: I cut the branches that were not the criteria to make a beautiful tree and the rest took shape naturally. I worked about 2 hours!
I think that we should not require the tree to go as you want but follow the path traced in the past and use these opportunities at best.

idea that emerges from the first prune is to move towards sankan style (father-mother-son) unless I cut the small trunk for sokan (dual small trunk)

hmmm i think the mother daughter style is out of the question.i was under the impression that there was only one trunk on the right side not 2 .the trunks are to simmilar in caliper.it will still make a great multi-trunk ,you may need to bend the far right trunk out more if you can. i am still jealous ;)

Hi Daniele,

I agree with *manofthetrees*.....the three trunks create a wonderful composition. With regard to bending the tallest trunk on the right out more...I'm not sure...maybe...I would have to see it from all angles to be sure. :)

Hm.. Dificult to see from your picture. But.. It looks like you also have the option to remove the two outer trunks, and keep the one in the centre. This eems to have a split into two trunks right? You can then create a double-trunk tree with serious root flare on it.

In any case, I would consider cutting the trunks to keep down by perhaps as much as 50%, regrow half of the height in order to create even stronger taper?

Hi Daniele,
I agree with Leatherback. I would take off the biggest trunk completely and reduce the size of the other two trunks to increase taper. It's a beautiful start. I can't wait to see the progression.
Happy pruning.
