Lower North Island NewZealand.

Love some ideas what to try next.

Picked this started for its main outreaching branch.
But closer look after trimming some bulk is i've 2 options.

View from above.

Was thinking of using the longer one on right but the left side long branch is the "top" on the trunk.

The trunk.

Left top branch is long and the right first branch is the longest of the top 2.

Looking from the back both long branches point towards wall currently.

Love the sweeping shape it has naturally just where to go next?
Didn't want to take to much off till I decided which side to go.

Style i'm aiming for is " Cascade "

I'm going with the main larger/longer branch just which way to point...

you will have to decide if you want a one line cascade...just the cascading trunk...or a two line cascade ...a double trunk one cascade one apex trunk...this wold be a good time to wire and get some shape in the trunk line.i would loose one of those left side branches and create and an apex.this is the time to decide trunk shape the more foliage you remove the slower the growth will be.best of luck and keep us posted

When you repot tilt about 45 degrees leftor even more. It will make a nice semi or full cascade if tilted further. In fact, I would trun it almost 90 degrees and make a cascade.
Good one.

Tilting is great idea went to a local meeting and they mention that too.
Had forgotten I "can" do that.

Going to plan for the longer branch as the single cascade branch.
Hopefully This new local group i'm meeting with has some ideas where to find the right sort of pot to make the tilt work.

Just have to think what to do with the other 2 branches on the other side of tree.

Guessing be best to wait a bit before I cut to much more off.
Since I already got the middle bushy stuff off and the downward branch/needles off.

Last time I had a simlar type tree I cut to much off and it died :P

Well done, you found a club to go to. Seeing the second picture I think I would tilt back a bit then train the branch down, The trunk is at just too parrallel with the pot. I would go a bit further than the first but not so far as the second. I hope that makes sense.

How it looks at the moment.
Haven't repotted yet mainly because I haven't found a suitable pot yet.

If it does not need to be re potted then don't. The branches will develop in time. Lots of fertiliser during the summer months.
