I have just received a Juniper Chinensis plant which my friend was trying to create a bonsai, but now needs to clear his house, hence gifted me the plant. I would appreciate if the forum members can provide me suggestions what bonsai style I should adopt for this plant. I have gone thorough some forums and was planning to go fro the upright style since the trunk is straight and already hardened . However, I would request expert opinion for the forum members.
I have attached the picture of the plant.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

To be honest.. The upper part of the tree is not very interesting for bonsai. A straight trunk, no taper, no side-branches..

I would probably take a long think, and then decide to remove all, and just use the lowest branch

Do you think the straight trunk style can be achieved for this plant in the long run if it is patiently nurtured ? - attached image

I'm going to say yes, but you will really need to learn lots before trying this. The way the tree is currently wired is pretty bad and the way the branches are formed is quite weird.

I'd say.. not really.
The plant in the example is maybe 4 times as thick, and as such, a few decades of good growth older.
