this is a 16 yr old needle juniper that ive had for a coupler yrs now. At first i did not know what i wanted to do with it so i just put it to the side and been letting it grow not really paying attention to it. now that i am really getting into the hobby again im looking to start developing this tree.
about the tree:
needle juniper
16yrs old
1.5in thick trunk
4ft tall
1gal. container
im looking at obviously doing a formal upright style and of course chopping it down but i hate how it has absolutely no trunk taper. what would be the best way to create nabari on this tree?
i might be transferring it to a grow box this coming spring but im thinking with trunk chop and wiring it might be to much this year so might wait on that but i have not re-potted in like 3 yrs either. your thought?
