Hello Everyone!

I'm new to the forum and recently new to Bonsai. I'm wondering if you can wire 2 smaller branches together to make 1 big branch rather than cutting one of the branches and being left with one weak branch to work with? Would they eventually grow together? Would it look natural? My issue is with a Juniper. They have SO MANY branches! Also wanted to do the same with a Chinese Elm.

They will most likely not grow together. This will not look natural. If you have many branches, congratulations. You can choose which ones to use. It is a blessing.

Do you have pictures to share what plants are causing you this challenge? Maybe you are taking wiring individual branches the wrong way.

Thanks guys!! That video is fantastic!! It answered my question. No, you can't wire 2 small branches to make 1 larger branch. I just need to cut and grow. I just need to cut more than I thought. I think as a beginner, my thought is, the more I cut the tree the worse it is for growth due to photosynthesis. However I need to get out of that mindset. The more you cut, the better, in most cases I'm realizing.
