so i recently did some pruning on my crepe myrtle, i cut back some branches and applied some cut paste. as im look at the wound to me it seems as if im getting some weird scaring or is this just the tree healing over? i cut the branches back about a month ago so it seem kinda fast for it to be healing over if thats what it is. i cut back some branches on another tree a year ago and it has yet to heal over but i do understand all trees heal different and some not at all. what are your thoughts on the wound?

This is the bark growing back over. If you add some cut paste, it will heal faster and with less scarring.

Do different species of trees heal differently? Can you think of a specific species of tree that behaves differently when cut?

from experience, my weeping willow and bougainvillea have not healed over from any cuts or chops even with wound paste.

You mean they never close completely?
One of my bouganvilleas shows all its scars, I don't think they are going to close any time soon.
