I looked at this tree at the Carolina Bonsai Expo and formed an opinion about the lowest branch. What would be the opinion here?
Then Bjorn Bjorholm gave his opinion and I changed mine.

Interesting question. Looking at a 2D picture, I'm going to guess:
The tree looks imbalanced. The first branch is too small, the second seems too long.
I'm going to guess the plan is to let the lower branch grow a lot bigger.

I don't like the lowest branch at all. I wanted to cut it off, but I did not see how to do that without leaving an impossible scar.
Bjorn wanted to wire it upwards to match the angle of the other branches, and let it grow. Now I think that what offends my eye is not the branch itself, but the horrible straight horizontal angle. I agree with his solution.
