Hey!

I just pruned, wired and repotted my first bonsai tree.
Is this good? What can I do better next time?
(the first pic is the before pic)

any other tips welcome.
Also not sure which species this is.

Thanks a lot!

1) never prune, wire and repot in one session. Leave your plant time to recover from one treatment, then proceed with the other
2) never do above if you don't know what species you have
3) never do above if you don't know what you are doing
4) never place plants on a window sill- and certainly not over a radiator. Plants belong outside!
5) never call a young seedling/plant a bonsai...

6) Repot at the right time
7) Prune at the right time
8 ) Wire at the right time
9) Ask or study BEFORE doing any of the above

Sorry, but the wires are doing nothing (good) for the tree.
The soil also looks wrong and overwet. What kind of mix did you use? APL ? Or Organic (Peat, Coal, Pine bark, Sphagnum?)

Hi...I just wanted to see what can be done in terms of replicating tropical and subtropical conditions, especially with advances in LED technology. I'm debating replacing the fluorescents with LEDs entirely, were it not for the heat the fluorescents provide. I will say the most interesting thing I've discovered is despite my efforts, the trees recognize it's not their growing season

Oh, yes. It's not only the temperature and light duration that triggers the seasonal changes in trees. Humidity, winds, tipes of insects, bees, they all play a role.
Some tropicals know when the season was long enough and winter approaches even when the temperatures don't change.
