Learning fast but plagued with uncertainty as the whole growing process is new to me. Every prune/shoot feels like life or death. Am unsure what to let grow.
As soon as this silver birch arrived tho I knew it had potential.

Long way go I kno think its coming on well enough but dont want to allow any branches/new shoots to ruin that lovely natural taper. Am aiming for informal upright. Any advice on what should go/stay or what I should be focusing on this growing season be greatly appreciated thankks

Congratulations on your enthusiasm!
Welcome to the Empire forum.
Fact is, all your plants are very young, not even to be considered pre bonsai.
Which means you should focus on keeping them alive for at least one whole season, and then start training some of them.
it's fun, you are going to enjoy it. Just to learn how to water the trees it took me one and a half years...killing plants, of course!

Thanks for the encouragement & not laughing at me sticks & stumps lol. So u think i should let them grow wild for while? I have considered it just felt i should be mindful of where they spend energy & as mentioned i dont want to loose the taper on 1st segment of the birch.
Should i be less concerned with that & aim to create a small fat stump to build from
