Hi what is the black tape they put on branches after putting on raffia for bending large branches thank you

It is exactly why it is used. To keep everything in their nice and moist, helping healing of cracks.

I leave it on as long as the wire stays on, as I cannot be bothered trying to pull it off when wired.
