I am curious, I have a flame tree that is about 3 to 4 months old, and I have been hardening all my trees since they started inside slowly but surely. So while I think it's either too much sun or not enough water, there have been a couple times where the flame trees leaves on one of the branches yellowed.

So my question is should I be pruning in that situation, or should I leave the yellow leaves on? Is there ever a time where pruning a seedling makes sense?

(I know "inside trees" is a common error for those new to bonsai, this is my last batch that I started inside. I have been hardening them, and worked up to 7-8 hours of sun, and a couple nights a week overnight, so I think hardening should be done soon, and I'll move them to outside 24/7)

You can remove the yellow and dead leaves/foliage.. but I don't really see any purpose for pruning a tree that has no real trunk or branches.
