Should I prune this? was created by RobertG

Hi, new guy here.
I have owned, and unfortunately neglected, this bougainvillea for about 15 years and finally have some time to take care of it. (I just retired :)) There's one branch that I think should go, but I'm not a hundred percent sure.
What does everyone think? One or two?
Thanks
Rob

if you cut the third branch on the right (bottom to top) then I would say the balance of the branches is lost. just my view though.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm just a little confused. Are you referring to the branch I "erased" in the second photo or a different one?

no, sorry, i mean the third one on the right, it does, in my eyes, look odd (not in health) .

If you mean this one, that's fine. It will be removed. I'm just using it as an anchor point for a wire right now.

OK, I see. Maybe this photo from a different angle will clarify things a little.

...And it has ;) . I have babbled on and it in the end has resulted in pointlessness. Yes, i agree with your choice of branch to remove (the one erased in second photo).

I beg to differ. I would not remove that branch, it's in a good position there.

Wish I'd seen that other photo earlier... as I've been playing with the first ones and now the result makes no sense :)

Based on the first one, where I see a lot of very long branches, I was wondering making it a wind-swept style would be a good idea.
