Hi all, another newbie here.
What's your opinion on what can be achieved (as a beginner!) with my Podocarpus? Which branches need wiring where etc etc.

Good to have you interested in the hobby. I'll jump first and say that this plant should be kept outdoors to properly train it.
Then... take a class. Do research, and really figure out if this hobby/art form, is what you want to delve into. Once you do those things, I believe that you will have a clearer mind to answer your own questions. There are a few guild lines that may help you to decide what you want to do with this tree, but this forum isn't an online class.
If you are looking for an online lesson for this particular tree and this tree only, then maybe there's someone on here who would be willing to work with you. But I'll guess that you'll find much more gratification in exploring Bonsai by NOT limiting yourself to one tree.
