My first time wiring and pruning this Juniper into a 'windswept flow' .... not sure if the bottom branch needs to be thinned a bit and would appreciate any advice. I purchased this from a nursery in a one gallon pot. One photo is before major pruning and second photo is how it looks now.

Pruned, wired and repotted into a small pot? I'd leave it alone and hope it lives.
Just checked my book and you are right ... guess my subconscious mind kept this picture in focus .... thought I had an older edition of this little booklet ....

In my opinion the example you had isn't great, but at least you got started and got your first practice. Now give the tree time to recover. I'd recommend to look at lots of pictures of trees, and, if you can, visit bonsai nurseries / exhibitions / join a club.
I belong to a club and went to a Bonsai Nursey ... the owner is the one who put the 5 gauge wire on the main branch ... appreciate your reply and looking forward to more insite from those who know more then me ....
