TOPIC: Have I left it too late to report my Chinese Elm?

Have I left it too late to report my Chinese Elm? 8 months 2 weeks ago #35390

Hi there,

I'm still fairly new to keeping bonsai, so any advice on my situation would be greatly appreciated.

I've had my Chinese elm bonsai for 2 years now and it was 8 years old at the time (so 10 years old now).
I haven't repotted it since it's been in my possession but I intended to do so this year because I have read that they should be reported every 2 years. However, it's already (nearly) September and I'm worried that if I do it now it might not recover, given how cold and miserable British weather has been recently!

So, my question is: should I throw caution to the wind and repot my 10 year old Chinese elm now OR should I wait until next spring?

Many thanks for your advice,
Alice

Your tree should be re potted when it is needed not just because it is two years or whatever since it was done. If it is growing and draining well then it does not need doing. I would leave it until the spring, it will do not harm.
