I will, I saw some interesting trees around my area and wanted to get some cuttings and try and grow them from there.

Harvesting is a little harder as i need to first get permission, i have some privets in the garden of my block but they have large leaves and i do not know if they make for good training material. Apart from cuttings, seeds and harvesting, i do not know how i could get good training trees as the ones sold as bonsai here are cuttings already grown in bonsai pots and grafting.

I will post on the forum when i manage to get some new training trees.

I do not look at them as pets, but taking one at a time gives me time to adjust to certain things i need to do in order to get things right.

Thanks for the advice

Added 3 photos (1, 2, 3) right after repotting, today at 14:00 and not at 21:00.

Getting a little worried about how my privet is doing. What should i do?

I just watered it and hope it can recover.
The leaves are withered but are not currently falling off.
Should i prune most of the leaves off? They are not dried up, just seem plum and do not have any vigor in them.

If you have a transparant plastic bag, pull it over the head. That will help keep humidity up. It looks like you are keeping it indoors right?

Feels like a repotting that was done late and/or too much roots taken off.

I had a sprinkler system. One day my helpful neighbor knew we were out of town and noticed water dripping from the hose the system was connected to.

I know a very responsible young man, now 22 or so, who has been coming over for years to feed the fish and water the trees. I haven't lost a fish or a tree.

Here it is almost water every day and only March. Every day it doesn't rain. I need him.

I do have a transparent plastic bag i will do that. After i posted earlier i put a black plastic bag over it and the pot, kept it on for maximum 1h.
I just got it indoors to take the pictures, i keep it in my balcony, it has good airflow and decent lighting. The tree is currently situated in a corner where light does not get in directly.
I do not think i pruned a lot of the roots, it just had a lot of tangled feeding roots that got ripped when untangling the roots. It lacked thick roots, i cut down a root that was very soft (root rot i think), think i got it all.
I had to repot because the pot was not draining and has sitting water in it. Also the soil was getting very dry at the top and was very moist at the bottom. I waited until the tree was doing better, and had new growth.

Thanks.

Quick update, after another hour and a half in the black back the privet was looking better. I found a transparent plastic bag and put it over leaving the soil uncovered (picture attached) .

Thanks leatherback, i appreciate the help. I know these things are probably common and most of you guys went through them but i panicked a bit.

Thanks, hope it improves over the next few weeks, i will post updates if anything changes.

This really should only be for a few days though. Make sure you do not pput this in the sun of the plant gets cooked. And it would be good to let the plant out of the bag maybe in the night and in geneal when it is coooler and moist. You do not want the plant to get used to high humidity :)

Unless it's a Ficus and you are trying to develop aerial roots.
BTW, isn't this "plant in a bag" a good recipe for fungus? Warm, humid and no air movement... I wonder.

Yes. Which is why.. out of the bag at night and when it is cooler. This really is just emergency help, not a standard situation.

The tree looks good at the moment, i will only let the bag on untill night falls and it gets a little cooler.
I was thinking of letting the tree without the bag on tomorrow to see if it can stay healthy on his own.

Feeding roots should soon be developed enough to keep the tree healthy.
If not I will look into what alternatives i have, maybe using some rooting hormone, don't know if that would be a good idea.
Thanks again for the advice.
